Brennan Harris, MA, Pre-Doctorial Intern (he/him)
Hello!
My name is Brennan Harris and I am a pre-doctoral intern working toward my PhD in Clinical Psychology.
am passionate about creating a supportive, authentic space where clients can explore who they are and what they need to thrive. My goal is to offer an empowering, collaborative environment where you can build genuine fulfillment, deepen your self-understanding, and navigate the complexities of human connection in an increasingly disconnected world.
My work is uniquely grounded in two years of specialized training in conducting neuropsychological evaluations. Through this assessment work, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative, life-changing power of receiving a late diagnosis, whether for ADHD, Autism, or other neurodivergent profiles. Uncovering these answers often marks the beginning of profound healing: helping individuals dismantle years of internalized shame, embrace their authentic self-worth, and build practical strategies for navigating a world built for neurotypicals.
I love helping clients navigate modern digital landscapes to find balance both on and off the screen. A question I have long sat with is: "How can we be so connected to each other through technology almost all of the time, yet feel lonelier than ever?" As an avid gamer myself, I am deeply interested in how anxiety, depression, and overthinking shape our experience of the human condition—especially at the intersection of technology, competitive gaming, and modern loneliness. Grounded in Self-Determination Theory, I explore how digital spaces can fulfill our core human needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness, while addressing how tech-driven isolation leaves us feeling disconnected.
My highest priority in therapy is cultivating a genuine "no-judgment zone." Together, we will work to dismantle shame and gently approach the parts of ourselves we have spent years trying to avoid or hide. As a student clinician, I bring deep humility to my practice: if something is important to you, it is important to me, and I am always eager to learn alongside my clients.
My highest priority in therapy is cultivating a genuine "no-judgment zone." Together, we will work to dismantle shame and gently approach the parts of ourselves we have spent years trying to avoid or hide. As a clinician constantly growing in my practice, I bring deep humility to our work: if something matters to you, it matters immensely to me, and I am always honored to learn alongside my clients.
To support your unique goals, I draw from a versatile therapeutic toolbox that includes psychodynamic exploration, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed interventions, Person-Centered Therapy, and the 12-Step model of addiction recovery. Rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach, we will mix and match these tools to craft a personalized, collaborative therapy experience tailored directly to your life.
I am proud to be LGBTQIA+ neurodiversity-affirming clinician, and am unconditionally committed to creating a safe, inclusive space where you feel fully seen in the total richness of who you are, and supported through every step of your healing, growth, and self-discovery.
Brennan is currently a Clinical Psychology PhD candidate at the Illinois Institute of Technology specializing on the intersection of loneliness and technology. Prior to his doctoral pursuit, Brennan earned a Masters of Art Psychology in Education at Teacher’s College - Colombia University where he focused on understanding how mindful technology use can help bridge feelings of loneliness and disconnection.
